On Ascension Day we proclaim that Jesus is our Lord. That he died for our sins and is risen from the dead. He is alive forever, and ascended unto heaven, where he sits at the right hand of the Father on the eternal throne of God and has all authority in heaven and on earth.

A vivid contrast between what humankind is by nature and what we can become by grace. It is this contrast between the spiritual death of humankind and the deliverance of God, which will cause us to rejoice about the privilege to live the Body Life – the true life found in the Church of Christ.

It could have been a day much like today when the greatest teacher who ever lived, preached the best sermon ever preached. The teacher is the Lord Jesus, and the sermon is called the "Sermon on the Mount".
