Our expectations for the upkeep of tradition, custom, culture and social convention are challenged here, in order that we may hear the Gospel of Christ.
If these conventions slow us down in God’s work, we need to rethink our priorities.

David answered Goliath's challenge, because the LORD was with him. Victory and defeat were in the hands of the LORD. Not in the hands of David or his ridiculous “weapon” – a sling and a stone. It was God who defeated Goliath - not David or his sling.
