We experienced a tough year during 2021. Not only did all of us experience one or other challenge caused by the pandemic, but we were tested by a changed “normal”, in Church, at work and even in our family-lives.

Do we understand that Christmastide, also called the twelve days of Christmas, is indeed about sacrifice and kingdom-work, rather than entertainment, self-indulgence and consumerism?

We spread the Light of the world, Jesus Christ, by sharing his hope, peace and joy through our testimony and the examples of our lives.
Ultimately we spread God’s light, by sharing God’s love.

When we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we may expect to be happy during the festive season, all the time, (although we are told that many people struggle with severe depression during the festive time).

We sing a lot about peace in our Christmas carols. It was after all the core message of the angel choir on the night that Jesus was born: “Peace on earth and goodwill towards men on whom God’s favour rests.”
