Between the Garden of Eden and the eternal garden of Paradise, lies the "Garden of Gethsemane that the Scriptures may be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?" (Mt 26:54)

We are baffled by the behaviour of the characters in a strange parable that Jesus told and is found in  Matthew 22: 1 – 14.

An initial invitation to come to a feast in honour of the king’s son to celebrate his wedding, is met with rejection from the king’s inner circle (verse 3).  We know that nobody in elitist circles turns down such a royal summons.

Why do some people find it so hard, even impossible, to believe?

Paul says it is because they have spiritually been veiled to the extent that they became blind for the glory of Christ - for the glorious gospel of how the eternal Son of God came to us in human form to save us from our sin and from the ideologies of this world.

In 1 Corinthians 9:16–23, Paul says: "I have become all things to all people...to the Jew, I became as a Jew...to those under the law...as one under the law...to those outside the law, I became as one outside the law...to the weak, I became weak... I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel that I may share in its blessings."

Being a Christian must be lived in every aspect of our lives. To love God with all our strength means to love God with everything that we do.
