Jesus gave us a clear command when he said that we must “do this in remembrance of him.”  To stay away from the Lord’s table, without any reason, or rather good reason, is to shun the Lord and his plan and intention to comfort us and build us up in our holy faith at his table!  It is the Lord who invites, no, urges us, to share in this means of his grace.

The Word of God praises the role of the mind as an essential part of doing what is right and our growing through sanctification. Our faith emphasises the truth that how we behave and what we think (believe) influence each other. What we think and believe and what we do, act on each other.

Firstly that God will in grace receive all who repent of their sins, to partake of the Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ. And even when we realise that we are still weak and find it hard to live according to God’s will and law, we accept in faith that our human nature cannot prevent us to receive the food that Jesus, our Host at the table, wishes to share with us.
