 Advent and Christmas
are not sentimental feasts
around a helpless babe.
They proclaim: The King was born!
The King conquers!
The King is coming! The King is coming indeed!"

There is a too often neglected truth in die Bible, found in 1 Samuel 16:7:
"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Jesus Christ, King and Head of the church gave us his Great Commission and we can read it in Matthew 28: 18 – 20.

God’s grace speaks of the truth that we receive the mercy and love of God even though we can never “deserve” it through anything we do by our own initiative, but share in its holy work in us only through faith, a gift of the Holy Spirit.
This is the very heartbeat of our Christian heritage.

God will bless you in ways you cannot imagine, when you put God’s priorities for you and your life first – and you experience his promise to add everything you need, unto you.

During heritage month, this is a truth which we profess - our Christian / Presbyterian / Reformed heritage - but which we may easily fail to practice: The message of the gospel is the means by which God’s gracious power is implemented to save us; to save the lost.

Why should we obey God and live according to his commandments? Why should we clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience? (Col 3:12) Why should we bear with each other and forgive each other and put on love as part of our festive clothes to his glory?(Col 3:13-14)

We humble ourselves and pray for the beloved country, South Africa, and all who live here and know this is their home and the future of their children.   Have mercy on us, we pray.
