Holy and gracious God, Father in heaven, listen to our prayer today –
During this month of August, which is Women’s Month in our country, remember Lord, every woman who needs you and cry out to you for grace, mercy and dignity.
We pray especially for all those mothers, grandmothers, aunts and sisters who work hard to care for family members in need, while forging their own paths in life. May their loving hearts and nurturing spirits be blessed with strength and joy.
Deliver this nation from every form of ungodly patriarchy and of gender violence.
Father, bless the careers of our mothers and sisters, and make them successful and fulfilled in their work.
For those women and children most vulnerable to discrimination, violence, oppression or neglect, we pray.
For all those who go hungry while others feast in abundance, and for those who struggle to support families in the midst of economic gender injustice and as a result of the greed and corruption of others, we pray
For all who struggle for the basic necessities of life - nourishing food, pure water, clean air, and adequate housing, we pray for alteration and transformation!
Bring to a fall every form of power grabbing and capturing, which represents the worst form of manipulation and corruption in your Church and in society and grant us the caring joy of equality amongst all.
Protect every minister in the church against those who want to capture them for their own agendas and destroy all evil agents of selfishness and their quest for worldly power, even in the church. Jesus Christ, may you alone be our King and Guide.
Loving God, open our eyes to see the immensity of your love for your people and the wonder of what you have done for us in Christ Jesus, our Redeemer.
Grant us faith through your Spirit, and perseverance, to seek your will and do your bidding!
Comfort us with your holy Gospel, dear Lord, we pray!
In the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
