Why must I pray?

We do not pray to try to change God or his will.

We pray because prayer changes us.

We pray that we can participate better in God’s will coming on earth as it is in heaven.  We pray that we will be able to, through God’s forgiveness, become able to forgive others who sinned against us.

Prayer changes our view of our circumstances.

Prayer reminds us of our complete dependence on the grace and mercy of God.

Prayer comforts us with the knowledge that God is very near to us and that he, the Almighty Father of us all, is in control of all our circumstances, with love, care, concern, wisdom and power.

Prayer reminds us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves and to share in their needs through our prayers for them.

Prayer remains the most intimate form of worship and praise.

Prayer helps to understand and grow in the knowledge that we do not have to carry the heavy load of the outcomes of our sins and mistakes, but by the forgiving grace of God, in Christ Jesus, the Lord will use our stories, through the work of the Holy Spirit, for his GLORY!  Amen?

Remember every day the biblical teaching in Ephesians 6: 18: “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
